How can one diminish a 'high stakes' type mindset in life?

Was reading an article on PTSD and the triggers. It said many experience*high stakes* type living with the disorder. That hit me like a ton of bricks. THAT is how my entire life has been and why it's been crippling the last several years. I'm a people pleaser and so avoid conflict.

Because I was bullied, screamed at or attacked if things were not perfect growing up, I developed a fear of needing to do everything right. It was exhausting which led to everything in my life being high stakes. It's why I don't date too and am petrified. If I don't offer a full package, and I don't, then I feel I won't have worth to a guy. How can one start to live WITHOUT a high stakes mindset?

Its in your mindset and will be nigh on impossible to change from on your own. Get yourself some books on mindfulness read it ,letting it sink in ,stop after a chapter and reflect over it. Do so after all chapters read and reflect on finishing the book reflect on all chapters together.Which ones could help your situation ,read the whole book over again reflecting over what you learned anew on this reading. There are many books and youtu.be stuff on mindfulness learn from them .

@Banksy83 I've read many books on easing anxiety or worry and not feeling you need to be perfect etc, but none really overtake that toxic foundation. I think I need to make sticky notes and surround myself daily with positive messages... otherwise they (books) really don't replace my toxic beliefs. Thank you . I've been meaning to make sticky note messages for a while, I think it's time.

I'm not sure, but a look and partial read of some of its content may speak to you. again, I'm not sure. Might be worth a look.
