Sometimes I feel like should do more with my life, but then I'm like what IS there to do, anyway?

I can't think of anything I wanna do with my life, other than create. I don't have any urges to make friends, or experience new things, is that weird? I guess I'd just like to live the rest of my days with my husband, secluded, surrounded by nature, read, write and play video games. 😅

If you feel things are right then they are. What you desribed feels like an amazing life.

You dont have to have the urge to do stuff people do or boast about. Perhaps some kind of comparison is making you question your quiet beautiful life. (Some influencers are goal achievers and encourage that... it might be good but it doesn't have to be the only truth. Walking on your pace is what matters)

Please enjoy your life and don't let anyone let make you doubt your style of living. Good luck. ❤

@Friendlyperson I think you're right. I guess most of my friend group growing up were very adventurous and some even had a strong fear of missing out. I distinctively remember a conversation I had with my former best friend about her wanting to crash a party that she hadn't been invited to, and when I asked if that was wise, she let me know she didn't even like those people. Why did she want to go so badly then? I asked her, and she looked at me like I was some kind of loser for not understanding, and asked me if I wasn't afraid that I was gonna miss something fun or cool happening somewhere because I didn't attend? Lol.

I am honestly really happy with my life now. I was adventurous in my teen years, but grew apart from my friends because they went onto traveling, working as tour guides and such, partying, and I stopped being into it. I was never really truly into it I think. I suppose I just accepted it as normal.

Ahhh .... don't let others value your life. If YOU feel you should be doing more just let out a little more fishing line or buy a harmonica :)

We recently watched a YouTube piece about cloistered monks, for years just praying and baking bread. They seemed happy as pie. I wouldn't dare suggest my live is more valuable than theirs, or that I'm accomplishing more. Their prayers may deflect a meteor on a crash course with earth. What can I possibly do to top that?

@Heartlander If they believed their prayers did good in the world, then that gave their lives meaning. No one truly knows anything, so I keep an open mind towards spirituality, religion, etc. even though I don't necessarily believe in the power of prayer myself. Your reply did however make me ponder: If the purpose in someone's life was delusional – not saying the monks were delusional, let's instead say someone is schizophrenic but only in a positive way; he spends time with "friends" who are entirely made up by their own minds, but they always have a good time – is that in fact purpose? Is purpose defined by our personal experiences, or is there a need for it to have roots in reality, before it can be considered purposeful or meaningful? In my opinion purpose, meaning, value in this sense, is an internal experience which can't be changed by other people's perception, but I am curious as to what others believe in this regard.

If you are happy with your life now that’s great. Now and then though a thought might pop up saying that you are capable of more than you are now. That’s normal too.
I feel the same way.
Humans definitely aren't meant to live how they do, it's too much. That doesn't sound weird at all.

I feel about the same except I’m not married

@BlueVeins I used to watch youtube shorts on my phone when feeling like just chilling on the couch, but I recently switched to playing a game on my phone instead, because I assumed that's better for my brain. You make a good point about just doing nothing sometimes though. When I don't feel like doing much in general, I either watch a series, movie, or read. My healthiest "lazy activity" is probably doodling in a sketch book.

@Nightwings It's really hard. I work an office job and I find myself constantly listening to youtube videos bc the work is just so damn boring. You're probably doing better than most people, the short form content is really the worst imo.

@BlueVeins When I was young my friends and I would just hang out and talk, usually while walking on the beach or sitting on a bench in a park or something like that. I really do feel like my attention span was much better back then. I can definitely see it being hard with an office job. You could try bringing a book to work and read it in between things instead of youtube videos, I bet you could make it a habit if you stuck with it for a while. My husband always reads when he's not doing something else, even if it's just for 5 minutes.
