My nephew is posting his political views on Facebook and I am countering with negative comments

nothing like driving home the family wedge that divides us more each year. I know I should preach love but I don't feel I have much in me...

I just blocked my cousin's ex girlfriend for her racist views. Oddly enough, I knew to expect that because that's how racist my mother's side of the family is... but I have to respect myself enough to draw a line to protect myself from having to read it - even if it means never seeing my second cousins again.

@HootyTheNightOwl and who needs to see a second cousin anyway
@atlantic59 I lost touch with that cousin before he was even high school age anyway.

@HootyTheNightOwl I'm the same with my nephew and never met any of his or his sister's kids
@atlantic59 He's a heroin addict now. He took the wrong direction in life since my mother passed away.

I haven't seen anyone other than my siblings since then - and I don't recognise my brother since he decided to marry his wife and not invite his big sister to the wedding.

@HootyTheNightOwl sorry for an all too common family dynamic
