I need a table saw or something similar so that I can cut up just small pieces of wood

Would that be the best/cheapest option? Being unable to cut wood holds me back often ahah

I dont know much about these things but a wood router looks like it would be handy to use

@TheDeathOCuHullainn interesting! Might be for fine details? I looked it up only briefly though

I mostly just need to do straight cuts. It's brutal doing with a handsaw
@caccoon Yeah its like a gym workout 😆

Oh yeah maybe i can help with that
Beardedguy · 36-40, M
@caccoon are the bits already smallish size? Or do you need to cut down big bits of wood
caccoon · 36-40
@Beardedguy it kind of depends, I tend to just forage a lot of wood, so probably I will always be making smaller bits... Using wood that is 6ft in length or less and cutting it down to something like 2ft long etc

@caccoon if its longer and thin a mitre saw may be best, or a circular saw to help rough cut it down, table saws can be expensive and they can take up room

@YoMomma sorry I was referencing the dumb saw movies

@caccoon oooh 😅 it's been 20 years since ive seen it 😅
Consider how accurate you need to be, and how small is small. A small bandsaw might be safer/easier, and cheaper.
@caccoon Just don't get addicted, like a certain NudasPriest I could mention ...
caccoon · 36-40
@NudasPriest do you collect tools
@caccoon Oh yes ... 😆

But if you're just cutting small pieces of wood, you'll probably want this

Depends on what you are cutting, maybe a chop saw
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Are you cutting straight lines?
caccoon · 36-40
@vetguy1991 does the guide wear over time?
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
@caccoon not bad , especially if its not used every day

@caccoon @vetguy1991 Don't need a guid or fence for a skill saw. An aluminum combo square works better and is easier.

From what you're describing you just need a handheld circular saw and a combination square. You can't even get one that runs on the batteries you already have. Or a miter chop saw if you really insist on something that's stationary.

@MethDozer thank you!!

@MethDozer When I first encountered a combination square I thought that shit was witchcraft what a great tool.

@come2gether gotcha! Yeah I have Ryobi for my other tools, and I know they're not the best but they get really light use
come2gether · 46-50, M
@caccoon they are actually great tools. I've remodeled 4 houses using Ryobi tools. Serious remodels. I've used the snot out of them and they just keep going
@caccoon @come2gether My previous table saw was a Ryobi. Served me fine for a few years.
