I need a table saw or something similar so that I can cut up just small pieces of wood

Would that be the best/cheapest option? Being unable to cut wood holds me back often ahah

Consider how accurate you need to be, and how small is small. A small bandsaw might be safer/easier, and cheaper.

@NudasPriest not super intricate, mostly just being able to cut things to size (2x4s and smaller)

What would you suggest?
@caccoon I'd still need a bit more info. It all depends if you need to cut length ways, as well as across. A table saw is best at both, but is a bigger tool. Bandsaw will cut length ways, but can wobble a little, and can only cross cut less than ~ a foot. A 'drop saw' would be cheap, but only good for cutting across timber. I have all three, BTW ... so I could advise more when I have a bit more time.

@caccoon Goal achieved. 😆

@NudasPriest but mostly I think I will just need to be able to make easy straight cuts, width-wise. Just to do simple things

Maybe a bandsaw would be better?
@caccoon The ~1 foot limit is the length of the timber the bandsaw table can support though, unless you can support the overhang. To the left of the blade there's only so much room before you hit the upright bit of the tool. Sorry, I'm not explaining things too well, but I'll get there.

If you had a 6 foot long bit of 2x4, and wanted to cut 2 feet off, then a bandsaw wouldn't be very good. If you had a 1 foot bit, and wanted to cut 2 inches off it would be fine. A drop saw would be fine for either, but couldn't reduce 2x4 down to say 2x3 along it's length (which a bandsaw could). The table saw could do all of this ... but they can be really dangerous. Need to think about every cut before doing it.

@NudasPriest nope, I gotcha! I can also go look at them in person to suss out what I need. But I get what you're saying

Thank you! That helps a lot. ☺☺
@caccoon Awesome. That's what I was going to suggest next. Understanding and seeing how each one works, plus being able to discuss with a person in the store, and you'll be set. Very happy to help.

@NudasPriest thank you! ☺☺ Yes I will have to go and look at them
@caccoon Just don't get addicted, like a certain NudasPriest I could mention ...

@NudasPriest do you collect tools
@caccoon Oh yes ... 😆
