At my son's school district, they don't teach about genocide because it's "inappropriate"...

They only allow certain books about the Holocaust and taught him that native Americans and white people worked together...

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Sorry, we live in such a strange world now, many Americans don't know in history the UK/Canada burnt the Whitehouse down, while it's part of our learning. We are destined to repeat so many histories, it's sad. Can't someone say the children need to learn these lessons we already lived through? I want that in Trump's pipe, while I won't hide we were often cruel towards native americans, or indigenous people, we did learn our lesson I hope and maybe from it being taught?

i had a co-worker who was from Turkey once who asked me why we celebrate the genocide of the Amercian Indians (Thanksgiving) i was really young at the time and it never occured to me that other coutries that taught world history would more accurate present it as a genocide.

@MarbleMarvel you are more optimisitc than I am --i thnk a lot of Americans have and still do "other" brown americans / some of the comments on immigration on here are disturbing --i have two on my profile that are new and the comments of some are really cold

@MarbleMarvel 🤔sorry if you are going too teach history it has too be an unbias accurate version .granted terrible things happen that where shameful but there is accountability . a true historical picture and not swept under the carpet because of the shame of the actions of people

I get that you might not want to show pictures of the concentrations camps as they were being liberated to children

but lying to them is certainly not educating them.

@Pretzel yes I understand not wanting to show them gruesome things, but you don't even need to see the gruesome parts to feel that same terrible dread of the whole situation. However calling it inappropriate is not fair.

That awkward moment when you're native and "taught" the same thing 😔 I literally got in trouble for speaking against it.

Sadly that isn't new and it's just going to get fucking worse.

@SwampFlower I'm so sorry. I don't know what else to say. It makes me ashamed. My mom raised me with native American spirituality and didn't hide any of humanities dark realities from me. She would call the school and argue with my teachers 😂 (she was a teacher too) so I always naively thought things were improving. I saw in my travels they are not.

If I was there I'd of fought for you girl. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything.

I can see why they would want it pulled. It is as program of Christian-Nazi proscecution based on religion and honesly Many American Christians are ideologially aligned with 1930-1940's German Nazis
