@jackrabbit10 Canada is not well understood by most Canadians either. In the US the executive is separate from the legislative. In Canada they are combined. The PM and his cabinet are members of parliament. I have never voted for the Prime Minister of Canada. I couldn't. The PM is just another Member of Parliament and thus only the people in his riding ever get to vote for him. In fact he can be defeated as an MP and simply run in another riding if his party forms the government because it holds the most seats in Parliament. In the US the states are represented at the federal level in the Senate. That is not the case here in Canada. The PM appoints the senators and although each province is allotted a number of seats the number varies based on the population of the province. Thus it is possible for the PM to shut down an entire province's economy. This happen in the 1980s when Justin's step dad shut down the oil industry in Alberta. Alberta was completely unable to fight that off. One man decided that millions of people would lose their jobs and their houses and all too often their marriages. Canada was built broken politically. It was always just too big to truly govern. However with advancing technology that is changing.

@hippyjoe1955 OMG...i didn't even think of that. good point. i wondered why he was out of the blue trying to take over countries. I think Greenland might take him up on it. plus it is rich in resouces

@jackrabbit10 Imagine if each province of Canada were to become a US state and instead of a star other symbols are used. Alberta could be a cow's head indicating Alberta Beef. A sheaf of wheat would be Saskatchewan. A big lake could be Manitoba. Quebec could be the Fleur de Lis. PEI could be a potato. NFLD could be an Iceberg. Etc Etc.

@jackrabbit10 I don't think there would be riots in the streets here in Canada if it were to happen.
