how do you feel about that? i know you canadians have great pride in your country.

@akindheart Most Canadians I have talked to really don't care whether Canada remains its own nation or not. We did elect a PM that said that Canada was the first 'post national state'. I only oppose being part of the US because of the US's bad habit of starting wars and interfering in other countries affairs. Well that and the fact that the US is owned and operated by Israel.

@hippyjoe1955 i knew there would be opposition. i am not sure why Trump has this on his mind. or acquiring Greenland for that matter...geez we have enough problems as it is
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@akindheart I think Trump is trying to present a continuous northern border to Russia. He has Alaska. If he had Canada and Greenland the US border would extend from the Aleutian Islands all the way to Europe.

@hippyjoe1955 your right on,

@hippyjoe1955 It depends on where you are in Canada, I suppose.....I know that in Northern Ontario, they won't stand for it. Hell, many don't even like Southern Ontario to get involved in our affairs..lol

@caesar7 I think that is why Canada is about to become American. The confederation was built broken. Canada was designed to be an empire. The little strip of land where the maple leaf grows IS Canada. Everywhere else is the realms that are there to serve and support the real Canada. Thus Billions of dollars leaves Alberta and is given to Quebec. It is not an equal nation. The PM is a real dictator with no real checks on him. Look at Justin. He is able to remain PM even though by all rational understandings of the Westminster Parliamentary Tradition he should be out on his ear.

@hippyjoe1955 interesting, Canada to most Americans is a open book, needs to be read,
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@jackrabbit10 Canada is not well understood by most Canadians either. In the US the executive is separate from the legislative. In Canada they are combined. The PM and his cabinet are members of parliament. I have never voted for the Prime Minister of Canada. I couldn't. The PM is just another Member of Parliament and thus only the people in his riding ever get to vote for him. In fact he can be defeated as an MP and simply run in another riding if his party forms the government because it holds the most seats in Parliament. In the US the states are represented at the federal level in the Senate. That is not the case here in Canada. The PM appoints the senators and although each province is allotted a number of seats the number varies based on the population of the province. Thus it is possible for the PM to shut down an entire province's economy. This happen in the 1980s when Justin's step dad shut down the oil industry in Alberta. Alberta was completely unable to fight that off. One man decided that millions of people would lose their jobs and their houses and all too often their marriages. Canada was built broken politically. It was always just too big to truly govern. However with advancing technology that is changing.

@hippyjoe1955 OMG...i didn't even think of that. good point. i wondered why he was out of the blue trying to take over countries. I think Greenland might take him up on it. plus it is rich in resouces
