Would you be upset with an SO for not being upfront about a hard drug addiction?

I actually feel that if you do take hard drugs you should tell the other person about it, without them having to ask.

I feel like a good partner should be upfront about any kind of addiction.

Even if it isn’t an addiction and just occasional recreational use, the use of drugs of any kind should be discussed. Some people don't want to be around them and that should be honored and respected.

Upset? Yes and I’d end it. Drug use is a deal breaker for me no matter how much I like the person

@Jenny1234 same here, it is a deal breaker for me
@Jenny1234 Absolutely!! 💯
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
I would be. People need to be upfront about glaring issues like that. No excuses
caccoon · 36-40
@deadgerbil will u be my mother
deadgerbil · 26-30, M

Oh yeah immediate deal breaker.

🎶 No long explanation
No reconciliation
No "let's talk it over"/number I can call
"Goodbye" says it all! 🎶

Given my addiction history etc it would be a total hard no. I can't be dealing with someone lying or concealing that. Too dangerous for me.
Harmonium1923 · 56-60, M
Absolutely. For reasons of health but also legality.
Ontheroad · M
Absolutely would be. That should immediately follow "hello".
Straylight · 31-35, F
That’s something I’d like to know before I’m in too deep.
Yes, that's important information.
Yep. Critical information.
Then he shouldn't be your SO in the first place
Yes. Could be life saving
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
Yeah, I would have stayed away if I knew he had a meth addiction
caccoon · 36-40
@SkeetSkeet exactly. Their behaviour is so erratic

i'd need to separate the two:

the trust is broken and it will take time to rebuild - this is a relationship killer

i've got to also say the addiction is serious and that person needs serious help - no less important to the relationship than trust being broken. terrible situation
