I just got back from the Golden Corral salad bar 馃. Munch munch crunch munch.

I need to eat more "real" food, and more veggies. I have lettuce 馃ガ, carrots 馃, brocolli 馃ウ, radishes, mushrooms 馃崉, olives 馃珤, onions 馃, peppers 馃珣, cucumbers 馃, ham 馃崠, eggs 馃, chicken 馃崡, pickles 馃, imitation crab 馃 (its fish 馃悷), cheese 馃, croutons 馃崬, and ranch. A little of everything!

I have been watching YouTubes on diabetes and nutrition, and they say eat "real" food, cut out processed foods, and eat more fiber. And of course, cut added sugar. They say the cause of insulin resistance (the cause of type 2) is malfunctioning mitochonria, a metabolic disease. It is still confusing.

Oh, and my doc reviewed my blood work and said I needed to drink more water. So I have water with my salad.

@Coralmist

One YouTube said avocados were good for you.

Google says:

[quote]Avocados do not significantly impact blood sugar levels. Part of what makes avocados a good choice for people with diabetes is that, although they are low in carbs, they are high in fiber. Many other high-fiber foods may still spike blood sugar levels.

Right now, though, I am about to eat ham, eggs, and grits. Protein and even fat are OK. Grits at least have fiber, I presume. And Splenda in my coffee, as usual.
