Do you go out of your way to avoid being cliche?

Or would you rather fit in? How important is it to you to be original?

I’m not sure, that’s something I struggle with. You see when I was little other kids would tell me I was weird, and soon I adopted that as part of my identity and took pride in it - besides, normal is boring! But as I got older I realized that my peers never thought I was “cool”, and I got lonely sometimes. As I continued to grow I struggled to find dates. Now I’m 36 and still have never been in a romantic relationship before. So I don’t know, being original is fun and interesting and beautiful, but it seems to me that the downside is loneliness and all the self-doubt that comes with that. To what extent is it worth it?
