Something Ricky Gervais said about science and religion:

“If you could somehow erase all knowledge and all written record of both science and currently existing religions then come back in 1000 years time, science would come back because it’s observable, testable and works within a set of rules. But religion would stay gone, because there’s no continuing activity for it.”

I bet we'd become pagans again. Or Pantheists. Even in science there is a lot of unexplained, just cool shit. After years of biology I remember one professor telling the class, science explains everything but why. Why does the grass grow? What sparks life? Not the basic water, photosynthesis... But why grow at all? Why do creatures have the will to survive? Why all these miracles of science?

I'm not a religious person. I don't plan to be. But there is something more.
@SW-User Even without knowing this ineffable "why," in the past 150 years science has doubled the human lifespan while removing much of the drudgery from life. Science has thus given you the most valuable gift - more time - for contemplating the ultimate questions.
