That is kinda big leap from your plan but that's the first thought that came to mind.

There is a character in that show. The perfect son and heir, super talented and adored and looked up to by all.
But his brother hated him. One day, he caught him and beat him up. He took all his fancy things and capabilities. Time passed. When finally, his brother felt that his spirit was gone, he brought the beaten up guy to the same place where he used to walked in and received adoration.

Beaten up and dirty, the man asks for help. He saw too many familiar faces. But because he looked different from before, no one helped him.

Some fancy places have dress codes so you'll be treated differently already before you enter a place. You might not even be allowed to entry.

According to social experiments on YouTube pretending to be a rich guy who dropped his wallet/ Ocassionally is without money is what will give the most respect.

I did something like this, not because I wanted to look homeless. But I always dressed nice when I got older, I felt the effect and it had drawn people to me for the wrong reasons. I didn't like the idea of being treated kindly for looks. Dressing down, I saw how invisible life got, but it's peaceful, you feel more human.
