Napkins: a scarce commodity in these times

I'm eating at a pizza joint and a dude just tried to walk out with the napkin dispenser. The guy who I presume runs it shouted at him in a thick Italian accent to put it back, so the dude returns the dispenser, and without breaking eye contact with the owner just takes like thirty napkins one by one then scuttles out. It was baffling and incredible.

Often a restaurant will give me, or else I will take back to my table, a few more napkins than I need. When I leave, I pocket what is left over, since they would just throw them out otherwise, which is a waste.

When I get home, I deposit them on a living room end table next to a lounge chair where I often eat while watching TV. I am accumulating them faster than I use them. I have a small mound now!
