Do you have skip hunters/pilferers where you live?
Not sure what a skip is called in other countries, I guess a giant dumpster/container.. heres a photo to explain
Last time we got one people took our things we disposed of🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, they took a plastic bucket that had a hole in the bottom, and a worn out mop, such random things were taken, but nothing we disposed of was worth anything 🤣
We call them dumpster divers. I don’t really consider it stealing since I didn’t want it anymore. I kinda like the fact that someone will be using my trash instead of it going to the landfill.
They probably took some stuff with the intention of building something perhaps. You know a lot of homeless people are extremely crafty. I knew a guy who made a working tattoo gun out of an electric razor 😳
Omg a plastic bucket with a hole in it!!!! Why didn’t you tell me you were throwing one out? I’m looking for one for my girlfriend for Christmas and don’t want to spend any money. I’ve been getting her to go in all the skips locally on her days off but she’s only found some bits of old plasterboard that I let her carry home.
Yeah I know. It’s hard work being me but I get my reward seeing her face, although I do struggle making out people’s features let alone their expressions.@SW-User
When the military was pulling out of Germany a few years ago the camp I was on one of the shops throw out a big bag of perfume, so naturally I went thanks lol, I priced it all up there was 2500 euros worth of perfume a few bottles over 300 euros each lol
I once picked a limb and leaf grinder that had been set out, i ask if it was for sale, he said it was locked up so i loaded it up. Had a piece of wood stuck in the impeller, started right up and i sold it for $350.00😁

No, I didn’t think skip diving was a real thing 😆😆
@SW-User when I was much younger, probably about your age, I had a friend who had a neighbour who spent his nights walking the streets of Dublin with his arms behind his back and his head down to look for lost cash/jewellery and any other items of value, this was his "source of income" we had many a night howling in laughter about this weirdo, the best was probably when we left a club at 3am, and Yvonne says, omg, there he is... And points🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was dead😆😆😆😆😆

Taking stuff out is fine if it's left tidy. Adding stuff to it is not on.
O yes but normally ask first, found some interesting stuff , 6 foot garden gate, magnifying light that only needed a new fuse . last good find was rolls of used plastic grass , i turned that into paths down my allotment and the skip owner had more room for more rubbish
we call it dumpster diving, I know a lot of hardcore hippies so dumpster diving is common around me, hippies feel like they are fighting wastefulness and saving the world by doing so, although I personally am not ok with it. I just don't say anything. sometimes when they come by for lunch they offer to contribute some food 🤢and I say " don't worry, I have plenty of food, if we don't eat it now it will go bad" 🤭 (you see what I just did?)
{@athenaarena]😆 or you get who fly tip and dump there rubbish in it .probably are though you are actually disposing of it you should have courtesy at least at first too ask before taking it
Not so much as used to, mostly used on building sites. And yes , people do it all the time .
The coucil has one day every 3 months where people put out stuff that doesnt fit into wheelie bins, (furniture, old tools, bbqs, shelves, computers, tv's wood and metal pieces, lawn mowers - you get the idea.)
And its kinda a fun night to go out and take a walk😅 . People drive round in utes, and walk around in groups laughing and talking , fossicking around in the piles , taking what they want before the rubbish guys come the next day to take it to the tip.
In a way that’s standard here. I put out some end tables I was getting rid of, just to make them easier to collect. I was on my phone calling the haulers, when someone from an apartment down the street, with her husband, asked, "You don’t want those ?" They took them away, I canceled the call. No hauler’s fee. 😄

@bijouxbroussard yea, I should not have used the word "stole"
Yep had a skip over the summer told one guy who was in it to get lost.
I mean yes I'm throwing it out but it is still my property on my land. Have the bloody decency to ask!

@OldBrit what kinda annoyed me was we'd packed it really neat and they upturn everything and it's such a mess, but.... When we fixed it, there was more space, when we get a skip we need to be prepared 🤣
