Any word on that daylight savings time thing they were trying to pass in government?

Here in the US we have daylight savings time, where when November hits, we turn the clocks back an hour.

But I'm hearing people are getting tired of doing that and the government was going to try to pass some thing to where turning the clocks back wouldn't happen anymore.

Anyone hear anything more about it?

WASHINGTON, March 15 (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate on Tuesday passed legislation that would make daylight saving time permanent starting in 2023, ending the twice-annual changing of clocks in a move promoted by supporters advocating brighter afternoons and more economic activity.

The Senate approved the measure, called the Sunshine Protection Act, unanimously by voice vote. The House of Representatives, which has held a committee hearing on the matter, must still pass the bill before it can go to President Joe Biden to sign.

Apparently Joe has abandoned the idea in as much as it's something that American people want. And, abandonment of the US people has been Joe Biden's signature move.

Well, that’s disappointing, but my clocks are not changing. @twiigss

@Carissimi I wish I could stay on standard time to be honest. Let me get that hour of sleep back and then stay there lol.

I get an extra hour of daylight at the end of the day. It helped me get through the depressing winters here. It’s a small thing, but psychologically it worked to alleviate some of the winter blues. Being retired means I can please myself, but I still have to check my phone if I have an appointment because everyone else changes their time come November. @twiigss
Certain states and provinces don't. Not sure on a federal level. Screws up the animals as they don't understand why meal time is an hour different

They're trying to find us a new reminder to change the batteries in the smoke detectors
helenS · 36-40, F
@MarineBob I have a radio-controlled clock. It turns itself back (and forth, in March).
That's why the batteries in my smoke detector are always empty 😑

DS is not universal in all Australian states and as a shiftworker I hate it. It brings no benefits except to the business community. Basically it's a commercial con.

As I understand it the abolishment of daylight saving time take place in November 2023
eyeno · M
Way back when we tried it in our state....after about a year we dropped it.
Carissimi · F
It passed months ago.

@Carissimi Another commenter says that it passed the Senate and then got shelved. Not sure if its happening soon

I just saw that. I thought it was now done. Anyway, my clocks don’t change come November. I stay with summertime time all year. I started doing this last winter, and it helped me deal with the long brutal winters here. @REMsleep

Two states already do not turn back the clock
One state never did and the other enacted it a little while ago I think. With everything thats going on I don't think that its high on the list of things to do. I have never liked it myself and would be happy to abolish the practice.
