How does one get conned out of 27k by a psychic?

REMsleep · 41-45, F
I just watched a YouTube video on the heavens gate cult where where a whole bunch of people killed themselves to join a UFO colony.
People are pretty good at believing whatever they want to

@Slade Yea David Koresh was terrible. They weren't actually doing anything wrong. They were crazy sure but the FEDS were wrong in that situation. Those poor children too.
Did you know that like 10-20 people still follow the teachings?
Crazy

@Slade Thats funny but some were decent people that just wanted to believe in a better afterlife.

I worked with a goofy woman who was calling psychic hotlines and racking up credit card charges, it took years to pay that off
CestManan · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti DID the psychic predict the woman would be facing possible financial issues?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@CestManan nope, everything but that. She could have least told her she’d be working at Taco Bell for a night job for about 5 years, that would have given her a clue
CestManan · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti There used to be this TV psychic called Cleo back around Y2K that got shut down because she was a fraud.

Ohh, could ANYone stretch their imagination far enough to grasp that one?
I mean a psychic who is a fraud? COME ON.
Belief is often more powerful than truth. Humans think in abstract, a double edged sword. Our imagination makes us gullible and plenty are waiting to fleece.
I can tell you… but I need you to write me a check first.

Some people would sell their soul for answers that they want to hear
Didn't see that one coming??? 🤔

Same reason people send money to catfish.

Honestly, I am jealous someone could even afford to squander $27K.
Same way you get conned by anyone else sadly. There are unethical people in any line of work.

They want to believe in mystics, sad it costs them so much

People like that prey on lonely weak minded people.
