Are we really great ? , when we tell others that "I am great"

Maybe but maybe it’s just to make us feel better about ourselves hard to say

I don't know about you. But I'm better than great.

People saying "How are you" when you first meet socially, are just really saying the polite thing.

They are just saying hello.

You could say anything including "I am great" and really mean nothing.

If a person is asking genuinely, "how are you?"

I am great can be a rebuff to their enquiry or a statement of fact.

I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm good once, as I ever was. 😏😎

Somebody told me that ,we should not tell others about ourselves,let them experience themselves and understand you.

Mmyeah.. I lie. I'm good at best. If I state, "I am great," it's because you look as though you're perfect.

Not always no although I think "I'm not bad" or "Not too bad" is more common when people aren't going that well but don't want to say it. Certainly that is what I use lol!

Take it as a compliment and move on

Before we answer that question we have to answer a different question. Does the person asking how we are really care? Would they really want to hear how we are if we arent great?
