What secret did your parents keep from you?

A secret which you only found out many years later?
When I applied for my Birth Certificate I found out that I had two brothers who died in childbirth in the late 50's
It was never mentioned at all.

That's tough to find out.

My wife was a teenager when she found her parents had an older child who died just after childbirth.
But I can imagine that's a topic that's hard to discuss. My wife was youngest of three. She could have thought, "If Deborah lived you'd never have had me"
Daft but I can see why family stuff is not discussed at times.

I don't know of any secret kept from me.

My grandma was very strict about marriage, sex relations etc, very church orientated. When she died and I helped mum and my aunt find all the papers... Found she was born out of wedlock and their grandad hadn't really been their grandad at all.

Easier to keep up appearances for many, I suppose
