Amen to that. I loathe it, it's simply a phrase to say, imo. I don't know how many times people have called it delusional, as if we just live in an imaginary world. I wake up every day, realizing my deficits; they can't be ignored, so I make the conscious decision to be positive. Nor is every day or week sunshine and rainbows, but I hold that hurt tight to my chest and scream if need be, perhaps a couple days, then move on with my life with a fresh outlook. I've also learned many things are followed with silver linings. They don't show up immediately and are often disguised so well that only a proper mindset will recognize them.

I hate the realist ideal. I'm a realist in every way, but choose not to mope around in my sorrow and cynicism. That's a trap for a miserable life. I know because I was practically a full-time pessimist. I honestly think some have been blessed enough to hit rock bottom, implementing a special kind of awesome to straighten out that attitude. I remain optimistic because I don't find it healthy to wake up every day expecting the world to f me over. I know it eventually will, but I wait for it to hit me at least.

I'd like a few people around here to see this. The realists that are no happier than I & often somber. They can kiss my butt with their ideology. Mine has immensely changed my life & I've never been happier.💋

An optimist heart and soul with a realist mentality. I allow hope to reign, but I have to be prepared for that slap in the face that can often come instead. I can’t be one without the other.

I think you know I'm a bit on the optimist side of things. I believe in the inherent goodness in people and that in the end it will all workout.

Optimist for sure. But that doesn't preclude optimistic people from being mad at the state of the world: they're the ones that tend to change it.
