Funny this came up, I was just in the kitchen and that Alanis Moresette song "Thank U" (1998) came on. I thought, "Back when this was new I was 23 and still had fun, still had hope for the future. My son was still a baby." Now my son is 23.
Yeah looking at stuff in the media, by age 30 we should all be in a solid career, healthy 401K, living in suburbia, and with our dream partner.

@CestManan Yep. I didn't understand that college is no joke, part of the reason I am at the place I am in now.

@SubstantialKick Whether better or worse, I think a lot of us pictured our lives to be different than what actually happens.
