Why do people still want to reproduce themselves on a planet of nearly eight billion people with finite resources when so many live in need?

thiccchungles · 22-25, F Best Comment
That's why I'm adopting.

Im not one of them

never married no kids and now too old

but LONELY. I did find a pen pal on EP and I've been like a grandma to him since 2007

but its not like the real thing by a huge measure.

Because of procreation being ingrained in their biology. They also need to feel like everything they're doing in life has a purpose and that they'll pass their achievements onto their children when passing away.

it's not a lack of resources, it's an unequal distribution of resources comrade

Because some people are selfish

because there is no regulation on repopulation from those that die, somebody has got to do it though

Your numbers are so wrong as to be laughable.

@hippyjoe1955 You're right. It's only 7.785 billion as of today. I edited my question when I realized I typed million instead of billion. You're the only one to point out the mistake.

@Wales He likes to point out everyone's shortcomings. 😐️Hard to believe he was a preacher once?!

Seems to be a biological need..call it selfpreservation.

People only think about themselves and I don't mean this in a bad way. Its difficult to life the only life that you have for the greater good. Especially if you aren't sure that your crushing sacrifice will mean anything. Many people consider a biological child to be the culmination of their achievement on earth so its a hard thing to ask.
@REMsleep people dont think about climate change either, except Greta
REMsleep · 41-45, F
@Elevatorpitches Thats not true at all. Many individuals care alot about climate change including me but my impact isn't publicized like Greta.
Also I have to live in society the way that it is set up so I won't go homeless by refusing to ride in a car or drive a car in order to assist in lowering emissions and I still eat beef occasionally so I care alot but as an individual there is only so much that we can do.

Maybe they can produce the people who will help solve some of these issues.
