Selective memory, anyone else have it?

Why is it I can remember every golf shot after a round, and I'm not that good so its a lot, but forget names instantly?

My neighbor next door felt badly last week because she called me by the wrong name. There is another fellow who used to hang out near our mailboxes, who also consistently confuses my name with my neighbor right across the hallway.

I told her not to feel badly. I said, "Well, at least you can remember the names of enough of your neighbors to get them mixed up. I can't remember any of them at all!"

While that was not exactly true...I didn't tell her that I had forgotten HER name...😂

Remembering names has never been a strength, I guess there are tricks to remembering but meeting people one at a time and hearing the name a few times is the best way for me. It’s natural to remember things you have an avid interest in better.

@plasticfantastic Everyone should wear name tags, problem solved. 😂

@plasticfantastic I’ve worked in situations where dozens of temporary workers come in and worked with us & I couldn’t remember names unless I talked them one on one or they were very colorful characters. You have to have something to remember them for I guess, at least I do. And full-time workers wore name tags, the temps didn’t.
