Is it their right to denigrate people?

People in the public eye, as in Rugby Players who represent the country, seem it is okay to use their religious views to castigate non believers.
Australia's Israel Folau lost his position in the Australian side for saying the LGBTIQ community members will go to hell for disobeying "God's" Orders.
He continues today by saying that the fires devastating Australia, claiming 6 lives and destroying over 500 homes is "God's" punishment for supporting the LGBTIQ community.
The Australian Christian lobby fully supports his views.
Surely if one does not have anything supportive to say then they should keep their divisive views to themselves?

Whats the Austrakian Christian lobby,Australia's answer to the Westboro Baptist Church?

@bookerdana Nothing at all like those disgraceful people.
Australian Christian Lobby's vision is to see Christian principles and ethics influencing the way we are governed, do business, and relate to each other as a community.
