Depends in what context they are used. If ya hired/fired someone on them sure its bad But if you make a harmless joke no one gets hurt.

BlueVeins · 22-25
Definitely depends on the stereotype. Some stereotypes are outwardly vicious, like Jews being casted as miserly manipulators. Some stereotypes are kind of harmless, like Canadians being friendly and black people making fantastic fried chicken. And of course, a joke can never be just stereotypes; it's got to be at least a hair clever in its own right.
@BlueVeins There is stereotype that we Mexicans are good at fixing cars, which is actually true 😂.

Positive stereotypes are sometimes funny. Negative stereotypes are tiresome, especially when the stereotypical bad guys do their best to meet or exceed said stereotypes.
BunnyBrawler · 22-25, F
It’s usually borderline prejudice and rude when people use stereotypes about different racial backgrounds but stereotypes about other groups like teachers, family roles and school can be kind of funny and relatable.

Good Example. Grandmas cook the best macaroni!

Bad Example. I date Black Women because I don’t have to meet their father.
@BunnyBrawler Yeah, the second one would be the lowest of the low.
@BunnyBrawler so true - I am watching a bunch of old black and white movies on youtube and shake my head a bit when they insert a gratuitous scene with black people and show them as uneducated and comical.

humor shouldn't be running somebody down

I find it really cheap when people use those to insult others.
@SW-User Yes, that is definitely a low blow.
Carver · 31-35, F
It really depends. Some can be funny just because they’re dumb while others, not so much.
SW-User
Depends and who. I am okay with close friends makeing jokes but someone I don't know, depends on the context
SW-User
@SW-User hahaha I'm sorry.
SW-User
@SW-User 😑 either you had an extremely terrible childhood or an extremely good one. And I hate both scenarios. 😡
SW-User
@SW-User It's a mystery hahaha

It can range from hysterical to disappointing.
blackface - no
japanese tourists with cameras - no
bad women/asian drivers - no

not all people comform to one set of traits

that being said - there's nothing funnier than the human race - or sadder
WillaKissing · 56-60
Some stereotypes fit and some don't, and it takes a little time ( From a few seconds to a few minutes ) to investigate the person/situation before I can say funny and fitting, or distasteful.
SW-User
They can be funny and distasteful, normally they are just boring.
indyjoe · 56-60, M
It depends on what it is and how it is used/presented...
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
both, which is part of why i find them funny.
bearinthebigbluehouse · 26-30, M
Funny. In a joke sense that is... ┬┴┬┴┤•ᴥ •ʔ
Zonuss · 41-45, M
I find them to be highly ignorant. Because when u make generalizations then perhaps you are not ready to accept the stereotypes people have about you. Not you persay, but I just wanted to make it sound fancy. 🙂
indyjoe · 56-60, M
@Zonuss I agree with you on ignorance and generalizations...but most stereotypes do have some basis in truth and reality, and there are people who do live up to them.
@Zonuss True.
DDonde · 31-35, M
Distasteful
