Tell me about one of your dreams in life that got abandoned along the way...

I always wanted to have a huge giant family. I wanted to have a few children of my own, but adopt as well. I'm talking like a HUGE family with 11 or 12 children.
I guess my dream stems from not having much of a family of my own growing up and I wanted to be able to be a part of one as an adult. My only wish since I can remember was being a mother and loving all of these babies and kids.
My dream never happened though because my husband is adamantly against adopting any children, but we do have our own.
What about you?

Owning a house with an acre or two. It quickly became unaffordable

Today's housing crunch is a miserable reality. That's why I live in one rented room. But times and real estate situations change over the years. You may someday have your chance.

@greenmountaingal: todays housing crunch is caused by pure human greed. Unless I come into an obscene amount of money...it ain't gonna happen. I had to downsize so much I nearly disappeared. I lived in a tiny space for 15 years. It's amazing how used to it you get. I hope you get more space to live in...if that's what you want

Actually, there are many facets to today's housing crunch. Landlord greed is what took over when the crunch occurred. Over the decades of my life, I have seen many changes and sharp, often unexpected real estate rises and drops take place. One factor in many areas is that illegal immigrants have poured in, cannot get loans to buy or build houses, so they have taken up a lot of what used to be blue collar and middle class affordable housing in apartments pushing rents up. The demand for such housing has pushed prices through the roof. If banks decided to change their loan policies, that might be one factor easing the crunch. Of course, governments could also change immigration policies but for a number of reasons, that is not likely.
