How many people (say, out of 1000) do you think have had a vision?

By "vision" I mean not a goal, an orientation, or a purpose. What I mean by "vision" is an mystical experience, a kind of dreamlike (but awake, conscious) experience of seeing things that are "objectively" not there.

I just don't see this being talked about, at least outside of religious conversations. No, my visions were/are not religious.

Nor are they a kind of "forced", "sudden", "violent" visions you see in the movies. They come in slowly and calmly, and I (usually) accept their lead. They are almost like dreams, but while awake.

My uncle who lived in Wales phoned his sister in law and asked what was wrong with his younger brother (her husband) living in Canada. She told him that his younger brother had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The older brother replied, "I knew there was something wrong. I was asleep a few hours ago and I woke up and saw little brother standing at the foot of the bed".

My Grandmother also had numerous visions. One day she was a little girl playing on the floor when she went to her aunt and announced 'Daddy is coming down the street rubbing his hands together'. There were no windows looking out on the street so the little girl could not have seen anything. A few minutes later her Dad came through the door rubbing his hands together. His infant had died in the hospital.

Interesting how vision-seeing seems to be have a (relatively) highly presence in your family.

I don't know if someone's ever made some research on the role of heredity as regards parapsychological experiences. It would definitely be valuable to take a look into it.

@Boallods It runs in my family. I knew when my Mom was going to phone and would answer the phone with a "Hi Mom" long before caller ID was invented.

Day dreams?

They say visions are part of a neurological disturbance a visual representation of a physical property and they don't really mean anything, but the person that experiences them will afterwards put meaning to them.

@Boallods I still think it's just weird neural activity and instead of you having a physical seizure you are having a visual one and then applying meaning to it.

We agree on the literal sense, but disagree on a more fundamental one. Let's but agree to disagree.

@Boallods I was just talking out of my butt, dude. ✌

no idea , however i think Visions are a lot more intense then your average dream , like you're there and time doesn't exist and the meaning is hard to grasp because its in Spiritual sense , and can be kinda frightening and requires a very calm and wise mind with some spiritual knowledge helps too in interpretation of the vision , that's usually given to help you

Solzhenitsyn said people in the past did more often than in the present because they were more in tune with the spiritual non-material world AND the material world both. if you include epiphany among visions then I know my father did which changed life for the better but at great personal danger to himself. I hope I would be brave enough to do the same.

I have had visions of what is about to happen in the near future. I see it as you, calmly and it appearing in my mind as a reality. I have not … followed thru on a couple of them and I have regretted not doing so. I only have visions when danger is close. I tell the truth, not blowing smoke.

Its rumored that my mother's side had the sight. I myself have had several... experiences that I cant explain.
Boallods · 26-30, M
@SW-User Would you mind to try to?
SW-User
@Boallods explain? I dont know where to begin.

First time I can recall was I was eight or so. I broke down crying for no reason. I apparently started crying because my favorite cousin had killed himself. Ten minutes later, his mother (my aunt) called us and told us that hed hung himself.

I don’t know but it’s usually women that mention it more.
Selah ·
I have them once in a while.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Selah I have flashes of various types sometimes seconds before something happens, sometimes it’s when people I care about are needing help.
