How many people (say, out of 1000) do you think have had a vision?

By "vision" I mean not a goal, an orientation, or a purpose. What I mean by "vision" is an mystical experience, a kind of dreamlike (but awake, conscious) experience of seeing things that are "objectively" not there.

I just don't see this being talked about, at least outside of religious conversations. No, my visions were/are not religious.

Nor are they a kind of "forced", "sudden", "violent" visions you see in the movies. They come in slowly and calmly, and I (usually) accept their lead. They are almost like dreams, but while awake.

My uncle who lived in Wales phoned his sister in law and asked what was wrong with his younger brother (her husband) living in Canada. She told him that his younger brother had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The older brother replied, "I knew there was something wrong. I was asleep a few hours ago and I woke up and saw little brother standing at the foot of the bed".

My Grandmother also had numerous visions. One day she was a little girl playing on the floor when she went to her aunt and announced 'Daddy is coming down the street rubbing his hands together'. There were no windows looking out on the street so the little girl could not have seen anything. A few minutes later her Dad came through the door rubbing his hands together. His infant had died in the hospital.

Interesting how vision-seeing seems to be have a (relatively) highly presence in your family.

I don't know if someone's ever made some research on the role of heredity as regards parapsychological experiences. It would definitely be valuable to take a look into it.

@Boallods It runs in my family. I knew when my Mom was going to phone and would answer the phone with a "Hi Mom" long before caller ID was invented.
