Can I baby be left at a fast food restaurant with a 14 year old while the 18 year old mother gets her nails done?

I would love everyone's opinion on something that just happened earlier today.

This has to do with a mother that's 18 years old, her daughter that's a year old,her brother that is 14 years old and the father of the 14 and 18 year old.

The 18 year old daughter asked her father if her little brother could go with her for 30 minutes today. The father said it was fine and the 18 year old picked him up and they left.

A few hours later the father gets a text message from someone telling him that his 14 year old son and his grandbaby were dropped off at a fast food restaurant. For the story lets use McDonald's. At This McDonald's the 18 year old sister's other sister and other brother are working in the back.

The father after numerous attempts to get answers to his text, gets in his car and goes to pick up his son and granddaughter.

The debate here is that the 18 year old daughter is telling her dad there is nothing wrong with leaving her baby and 14 year old brother there. Telling him he's being dramatic.

I'd love to get opinions and if you have more questions please me know.

I know my opinion but we are wondering what others think.

Thank you

Well in the UK thats not actually illegal, I dont know about the rest of the world. I think most 14 year olds should be more than capable of looking after a baby. But I know many aren't. 14 used to be a popular starting age for a baby sitter. It all depends on the 14 year olds experience and maturity.

The part I don't like is that its in a busy public place and the mother is getting her nails done. Maybe she should have taken the kids with her and asked her brother to keep an eye
@thenightwatchman that was asked of her. She said McDonald's was ok. They had food and drinks.

is he babysitting? Why not at the Father's home,instead of a McDondalds?
Makes little sense to me
@SW-User because her father was at home and he tells her the baby was her decision to have not her little brothers.

I used to babysit when I was 14, so I'm sure the toddler was fine. Also, you said there were two other family members at the place working. But in my opinion, the mother should've just taken her child to the grandparents and asked that they watch her for an hour while she gets her nails done. So it was an idiot decision to just leave her kid at McDonalds with her brother.
@SW-User if I'm a boss and I have been, I hired the other two to work not babysit. Just saying

@LoveYouLoveMe Not what I said. But if anything happened, they were there. But my opinion still stands, the mother uses poor judgment when it comes to her child.

When I was eleven years old my mother agreed to let me babysit the neighbors collicky baby on New Years eve, and they stayed out till 2 a.m. It was a nightmare. But at eleven I was considered old enough to babysit.

I can see it from both sides. I was babysitting at 14, but there are different levels of maturity. Most 14 year olds today I wouldn't trust to babysit my child.

@Fungirlmmm thats what I think. 14 year olds now seem a lot less responsible.... Actually so are most 18 year olds
Follow up, the 14 year old brother does not babysit the baby unless it's at his house and there is someone else is there.

The other two siblings are working and can't babysit.

@LoveYouLoveMe ah, I see.
The father called me. He said I wish I could ask a group of people what they thought. I said I know. I can do that.

@LoveYouLoveMe Interesting.

I'm very libertarian but I'd say no to this one. If the baby took ill, could a child of 14 cope? Obviously I don't know the girl but can she really be depended on not to get distracted?
@alan20 his her brother and not cared for babies not even his little niece. The babys pamper was soaked when picked up by her grandfather.

@LoveYouLoveMe If he was my son, no way!

Being a father of 6 and a grandfather of 11...no! It is not alright to leave children at a restaurant, a bowling alley, or any other place with the parents not in attendance. My humble opinion...
@hertoy I agree

The kid supervising the baby is 14 in a public place, it'd be different if he was 10? I'm not going to say it's the best decision, but it's not something I would do.

Im sorry this girl needs slapped into reality. She needs to straighten out her priorities. What she did was selfish.
@NeuroticByNature I said the same thing.

Given it's international site, and "For the story lets use McDonalds", I'm tempted to say depends entirely on country and culture.

Is the brother the father? and he is 14 and fathered an 15-year-old?"her brother that is 14 years old and the father of the 14 and 18 year old. "
That's a person who should have have her child taken away.

She's clearly taking out reached gambles till one day it's going to go to far...

No winners in this. Parents are responsible for their children.
