Common sense says that if you increase the pay of teachers that agree to be trained and carry is increased an appropriate amount... there will be a lot of volunteers . Then if they are equipped with bullet proof vests , ear bud radios , flash lights ... they would be a formidable force ... and as we have seen from all of these bad guys ... they are afraid of authority and facing down deadly force .

@Bigrobbie I don't understand the resistance to securing schools. There are a lot of people and things that one wants to keep out of a school and this solves them all.
Armed guards. OK. That's a secondary line of defense. It's critical once a shooter starts. It's not going to stop the first round from going off. The first round needs to not go off.
The reason people say "arm the teachers" is that teachers are the universal scapegoat these days. If you're going to be mom, nurse, doctor, counselor-- might as well be SWAT team too. And nobody will want their property tax going up to pay for securing schools.
