How to break free from people who don't truly love you?

I am so starved for love I hold on to a relationship with my mother who didn't take care of my basic needs (food/safety/heat) as a child and let me be abused to the point I have PTSD. I'm in a relationship with a controlling/emotionally abusive bf.

I know neither of them a show they love me through actions. They both say they love me, but their actions hurt me. When I need them they are not there.

I'm so starved for love that I want to hear them say they love me. In the back of my head I hope they will show me love through their actions.

I don't feel like anyone has truly loved me.

Just let them go like I did. I had similar circumstances with my mom, and I just decided not to talk to her anymore.

@SW-User me too - and others besides.

That's not sustainable if you want to find peace and happiness. You need to get away from both of them and get help with your mental health and how you approach yourself and others. A nebulous, unprovable God won't do it. Do some research and find the right people. Your doctor may be a starting point. I wish you all the luck in the world.

My situation is not the same as yours necessarily but I did have to cut ties with both my mom and a woman that was very angry and mean toward me. It isn’t easy and I won’t pretend to know all the answers but you are worth it. Love that is worthy of you will come along in time and protecting yourself and valuing yourself will put you in a better place to receive good love when it comes along. If you want to talk more feel free to message me, if not than good luck. I believe in you to do the right thing and defend yourself! You deserve better and you will find it if you fight for it.

Go to god. You can’t depend on people to love you when they have their own problems to deal with.

This breaks my heart to see. Neither of them deserved you in their life. Turning to God and prayer really can help.
