What were the cops who were at the school doing?

The news reports said there were 2 police cars at the school. What were the cops doing all the time that kid was shooting helpless people and why don't we hear about it on the news?
What I want to know, is why this has happened 18 separate times already, and more innocent lives taken, and the staff and police still haven't figured out how to make schools more secure, so this doesn't happen again?!! This is outrageous.

Where were the security cameras and alarms?? How long will this go on until better security is in place? How many more do we have to lose?

I firmly believe teachers should be able to carry firearm protection. It takes too long for police to get there, before dozens are shot down.

Maybe everyone should pull their kids out of school and homeschool them, if this is the way it is going to be. Maybe something would be done, then. These lives cannot be replaced. So sad.

Where did the shooter get the AR-15 gun?

@katielass If you want to talk about wanting to violate a person’s constitutional rights, you don’t have to look too far. Did you watch and listen to our President doing his best to shut down the NFL players rights? Agree or disagree, those players had a right to their freedom of expression.

@SimplyTracie I think the people are wise to keep their guns cos I wouldn't trust the Pentagon.
But isn't an AR-15 isn't that the weapon US army is standard issue to all. Built solely to kill human in reasonable close distance combat.

HTF does the government allow this as it's specific job is to waste humans and not much good at anything else? Crazy country.

@Graciebaby I don’t know.

Update: Turns out that he was hiding
GoodoldBob · 61-69, M
@SimplyTracie All there was was the one cop. He hid behind a cement post and did nothing. He is out of a job now for what that is worth
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@GoodoldBob Good. Not a good job for those who aren’t very brave. A few of those kids had more courage then he did.
@GoodoldBob How sad and tragic. Thanks for this update, Bob. Good job.

The police themselves are major problems. Better off not having them.

Good question. I've heard both that there was only an armed security guard and later that there were 4, one armed policeman and 3 security guards. It shouldn't be this hard to get facts like that straight. I also heard yesterday that 2 people outside the school were shot and killed. Is this going to turn into another Las Vegas where the truth is being kept from us and the media pretends to have forgotten it.
Well. That's the thing. I keep hearing we don't need to harden or secure schools. We just need to have armed resource officers. Well. There was an armed resource officer there, and he didn't enter the building. So there goes that theory. Give me the secured school, as the resource officers are a second line of defense anyway, and they need to actually enter the building.

And what would they do with pistols or maybe shotguns against someone with a semiautomatic rifle? Die? Ok good call.
GoodoldBob · 61-69, M
@SW-User I have seen that proven wrong as a matter of fact

@GoodoldBob
if there was an armed police officer in the building and he did not attempt to confront the shooter then that cop is a coward......
GoodoldBob · 61-69, M
@SW-User Damn right!

Waiting for the SWAT team while allowing students to leave? It's not safe to run in against a heavy gun with a pistol only
GoodoldBob · 61-69, M
@SW-User Letting kids die in the meanwhile

@GoodoldBob most likely. I think they should have gone in

idk i was under the understanding that good guys with guns will stop the bad guys with guns. perhaps the answer is to give every student a gun next time:
why not call someone who can tell you rather than ask the peanut gallery who will find nothing but arguments to make over the situation.

What you are implying, though not directly and possibly not intentionally, is that the police let this happen. And that is very unfair without clarification of what the news told you.
@GoodoldBob and again, that is very unfair without clarification of what the news told you. You are basing this off a a fraction of information that may or may not be accurate. That's pretty cold. But of course, you can be as negative and cold as you like. However, it does not find answer, it only implies guilt and creates bitter ideas and feelings that there may be no reason for outside of your own mind.

@nonsensiclesnail Two cop cars. No attempt to protect those children. How am I supposed to feel about that?
@GoodoldBob Perhaps that should indicate to you that there is more that you are unaware of.

@Graciebaby I hate to be *that guy*, but I look at that picture and, uh, it looks like 4 different women.

@CopperCicada Didn't you see how they all put there hand on their head and cry?

They were hiding, waiting for back up and the swat team..
MethDozer · M
Same places the cops ever are. Too busy wasting resources and presence fighting drugs and writing traffic tickets.
