I'm voting against tRump because of how badly he botched the pandemic response among other things.
All through Trump's final year, our Covid per capita death rate was DOUBLE that of countries like Canada & Germany, resulting in about 550,000 Covid deaths under Trump.
If Trump had handled Covid as well as, say, Justin Trudeau, we'd have had 275,000 FEWER DEATHS! Put another way, Trump's mis-management of Covid cost more deaths than THREE Viet Nam wars!! Three Viet Nams in a SINGLE YEAR, not spread out over ten years like the actual war!!!
Sure, Covid came from outside. And different leaders in different countries managed it differently. Trump's piss-poor Covid management is made clear by the relative per capita death rates.

"I look at it this way," Birx told CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent Sanjay Gupta. "The first time, we have an excuse. There were about 100,000 deaths that came from that original surge. All of the rest of them, in my mind, could have been mitigated or decreased substantially."

@Jake966 You keep trying to change the subject to "the dems." Trump had the CDC and the NIH at his beck and call. Trump knew how dangerous Covid was.
Trump was in charge and made terrible decisions such that we had double the per capita death rates of other countries. Trump was responsible.

@ElwoodBlues Fauci was responsible for the treatments. He’s the one who misguide the president and the doctors.

@Jake966 Got any evidence for that claim?? OF COURSE NOT🤣😂
It's a FAIRY TALE🤣😂🤣😂
tRump's White House MUZZLED the CDC, forcing all communications to go thru a taskforce run by Pence.

tRump's White House MUZZLED the CDC, forcing all communications to go thru a taskforce run by Pence.
A March 25 story by NPR science reporter Nell Greenfieldboyce called the agency “conspicuously silent,” and quoted Tom Frieden, a former CDC director, who told her, “We are less safe because the CDC doesn’t have the voice and the role it needs to have.” On April 1, citing a report from the New York Times that federal health officials were required to coordinate statements with Pence’s office, the Union of Concerned Scientists filed a scientific integrity complaint with the CDC, and “urge[d] the CDC to allow its experts to speak with the media.” Days later, in an interview for STAT, Helen Branswell asked CDC director Robert Redfield about “an agency gone quiet,” as a headline put it.

Ex-Trump officials tell Americans to 'heed General Kelly's warning' Trump's a fascist
The letter was signed by 13 'lifelong Republicans' denouncing the former president
During a series of interviews conducted with the media and published earlier this week, Kelly recounted multiple occasions when the former president praised Adolf Hitler. Kelly also insisted Trump met the "general definition of a fascist" and would govern like a dictator if allowed. The claim about Hitler, from Kelly, was bolstered by similar accounts released in the media this week from anonymous sources who claimed to overhear the same thing.
"We applaud General Kelly for highlighting in stark detail the danger of a second Trump term," the letter stated. "Everyone should heed General Kelly’s warning."
. . . "Like General Kelly, we did not take the decision to come forward lightly," the letter added. "We are all lifelong Republicans who served our country. However, there are moments in history where it becomes necessary to put country over party. This is one of those moments."

@ElwoodBlues Credit to them but I fear that's too little too late.

Being an Oaklander, I have seen Kamala Harris' track record up close as a prosecutor in Oakland, a DA in San Francisco, and as Attorney General. Like many, I have not been overly impressed with her record as Senator or VP, but she was out of her element. She is a hands-on doer more than an influencer.
I also experienced Donald Trump's first term. His chaotic and, imho, disastrous foreign policy or lack thereof, response to COVID, and misguided tax cuts for the rich to further reduce the middle class and drive up our national debt.

Kamala. I have alot of stocks in the defense industry and war with North Korea is heating up in Ukraine. As long as I avoid the major cities and the winds carrying the nuclear fallout, I should be fine.

If you are a fascist then you will prefer Trump, no question.

@Jake966 Meanwhile, according to Jack Smith's most recent filing, Trump used burner phones to lobby state officials to overturn the 2020 election. This is a federal records law violation and proof of criminal intent, among other things.
P.S. Trump’s own legal team did not dispute the authenticity of *anything* unsealed from the Smith filing.
Caller ID = Spam risk Egypt
Trump called the Michigan speaker, on an unofficial line marked "Spam Risk Egypt" to discuss fraud allegations. Proving he tried to cover his tracks, and these were not protected "official acts"
-Trump used a burner phone, routed through a foreign country to contact Michigan house speaker.
-He tried to pressure the speaker in this off book call.
-Speaker McCarthy knew about the burner phone line.
-The phone showed up as “Spam Risk Egypt” on caller ID.
If the President thought his attempt to overturn the election and forge elector documents were legitimate “official acts” why was he using an insecure, foreign routed burner phone for these calls?

Anyone but Kamala.
"Better" president, since there are only two possibilities.
Anyway, Trump of course. That's not an endorsement, by the way, but an acknowledgement that the other candidate (Harris) would be far worse!

It's so sad that everyone knows Harris would make a better president, but plenty will still vote for Trump.

@BohemianBabe At the moment I'm feeling pessimistic about the outcome.
BohemianBabe · M
@ViciDraco Same.

No Independent is in the poll.
BohemianBabe · M
@Roundandroundwego Because no Independent is going to win. That's why Putin is funding Jill Stein.
Roundandroundwego · 61-69
@BohemianBabe yes, if you have to vote for winners we understand that you never expect to become a force in politics, as voters. We know. You don't need to be a nation, you aren't one. Just people with no plans.
BohemianBabe · M
@Roundandroundwego We are a force as voters. After we got Biden elected, we forced him to the Left. That's why he's been the most progressive president since FDR. If Harris wins, we'll do the same to her.
But you rather help Trump get elected, so I guess vote for Stein or whatever.

If by best you mean least bad, then I'm going with Kamala. Not a fan of her stepping away from more progressive ideas to try to appeal to the disaffected right, but still a pretty solid option.

The best job Trump could do right now.

Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
I have listened to both people on interviews, Trump sounds more credible, but who would make the best president 🤔 🤷
@Justenjoyit you need your ears cleaned out apparently, thank FSM you're not a US voter
Avectoijesuismoi · 31-35
@BlueGreenGrey The point I am trying to make us that as with my poll people draw a cross next to a candidates name second part of my question but they actually cannot tell you why they did it or why they want to do it.
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
@BlueGreenGrey To tell you the truth I am glad I dont live in the US, but lets get back to the post and the question, thats my opinion so if you dont like it, unlucky.
Trump cares for America and Americans, Harris wants to shred the US Constitution and subjugate Americans under authortarian rule.

@Avectoijesuismoi it seems to me neither. Both have plans that seem to be a threat to the economy. But who can trust anything that comes from any source of media? Where do we look for actual unopinionated information
Avectoijesuismoi · 31-35
@Ideation You have hit nail on the head
You have got to listen to what they are saying and compare that you their previous actions or record
For instance
When they are Harris a question about is there anything she would have done different to Biden her answer was
"Nothing comes to mind"
You have got to rely on your own judgement which is most likely to try to do something for you and the country to improve things
