Remember in 2016 when Democrats and Republicans both had nuisance candidates they wanted to get rid of, both of whom had a strong base of rank-and-file support? Democrats had Bernie Sanders and the party hierarchy saw to it that he was disposed of. Republicans had Donald Trump but the party hierarchy let the party's voters decide.

@4meAndyou Liz Cheney, Laura Bush, GW Bush - all came out to stab Trump in the back, after he took Jeb's nomination away. The Bush-Cheney cabal wanted a friendly Jeb-vs-Hillary matchup and Trump denied them that. And these are people not used to hearing the word, no.

@graphite Robert Kennedy (Sr) was probably the one most responsible for upending the LBJ administration and paving the way for Nixon to become president. The Kennedy vs Democrat establishment hatred goes back to the 1930s, and many say cost 2 Kennedys their lives.
