How do you deal with homophobic people?

I always like knowing how others deal with them. I live in a tourist town and had a lot of homophobic people in the town. Both me and my gf try to ignore it as best as possible. Or in a few cases we make comments back.

I treat them like ignorant people, and find ways to make them feel stupid for being cruel to others. Or I just ignore them, it depends on if I’m feeling sensitive that day.
