I Im A Transgender

I'm just done....I'm done hiding my feelings. I'm done crying myself to sleep every night...I'm done with all the hate... I'm done with it all... This is happening one way or another...I'm on the brinks of just coming out to my family just by bursting it out and if they don't accept me then I guess I will just...disappear...

What are your family like about trans issues?
ShatteredHeart · 22-25, T
@CountScrofula No idea on my mom's standing..and my father makes fun of gay people so I think he may make fun of trans people too so I think he may have a problem with it

@ShatteredHeart May I ask if you're mtf or ftm? I'll point you at some coming out resources if you don't mind. I'm cis so don't have that experience but I know some good places for people.

@CountScrofula I'm mtf

@ShatteredHeart Okay a lot of my resources shifted around, lol.

Planned Parenthood may have the best guide:

https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/sexual-orientation-gender/trans-and-gender-nonconforming-identities/coming-out-trans

Also a good guide from LBGT Youth Scotland:

Here's a few universal pieces of advice:

- Come out to the person you trust the most. It does not have to be everyone at once.

- Do so at a neutral, safe time. Write a letter to read if that helps.

- Assume they don't know what the words and terms mean. Give them (or her) information. This pdf is really good:

https://www.gires.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/familiesintransition.pdf

- It may take them a while to come around and they will not be perfect and screw things up a lot. But if they're good people, they will try to learn out of love for you, even if they don't 'get' it.

@ShatteredHeart But importantly, find some trans people to talk to. There's a few on here who may be able to help or you can look at the reddit communities like /r/mtf or /r/transsupport

@CountScrofula thank you I will use these
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@ShatteredHeart I think the most useful thing I found there was the guide for parents. It is almost certain they will REALLY not know what being trans really means. They will need help too so they don't hurt you, so stuff like that can work with that.

@CountScrofula reddit communities I will check it out
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@ShatteredHeart A lot of reddit is fucking toxic for trans people, but there are good subreddits which are super supportive.

@CountScrofula Alright thanks for the heads up
