A big part of society are transphobic but they think they aren't as long as they don't physically attack trans people

I've noticed that a large amount of people are pushing transphobic views but they claim it's not transphobic and that it is to help.

The true intention is probably to help, but fact is its transphobia to be against trans rights. Such rights as if your teenage child say they are trans, you dismissing it as a phase or immaturity, is transphobic. Whether you like it or not. It's classified as transphobic.

Think about it. Why would anyone feel good about their family or friends or strangers online minimizing their identity and their decision in who they are? They are the ones to decide about their body and who they are. Not you, not me, not their classmates, partner, siblings, parents, teachers, therapists. No one else but themselves decide over their body.

To respect that also automatically teaches kids that no one can claim their bodies or want something with their bodies. So if you wanna prevent grooming and predators, respect your kids identity, take them seriously, respect your kids. They're humans too.

I humbly disagree. To use "phobic" at the end is to say there is a fear. Many times there is no fear of something like trans, but in fact just out right bigotry. So the best course of action is to not blanket everything as transphobic, but cautiously find the underlying reason for the opposition and call it what it is. If there is fear, then call it Transphobic, if it is a hate, then call it bigotry, if it is a religious belief, then explain that no one can force their religious beliefs on anyone else. IMHO of course.

@calicuz Hate is just the cover up for fear. The word transphobic includes all examples you mentioned. Bigotry is created through fear.

@calicuz But the problem as I see it is that leaves no space for any concern or objection, as it will all just be labelled 'fear, hate or bigotry'. No group in society should be above reproach and immune from criticism or oversight and allowed to enforce their way on others.

@helsbels Concern = Fear. Fear feeds hate. And that's how people becomes phobics.

@helsbels You can be concerned when your amazon package will arrive. You can be concerned what harms someone. But if you ask every single trans person. What harms them is you, a cis person thinking you know what they need. Based on your weird fears and prejudices, thinking they are just a label, or a religion. Extremely harmful. Imagine if you said being women is just a religion?

@Queendragonfly Concern = safeguarding.

I am concerned my possessions will be stolen so I lock the door. Is it fearful? Maybe but it's a sensible and proportional precaution.

(Waiting for this to be twisted in to 'so you think a trans people are a threat and should be eliminated'???)

@helsbels Who of your trans friends asked you to call their identity a label and their identity a religion?

If you're guarding someone's safety. You should do the opposite of what transphobes do.
