Why do some genderqueer, genderfluid, and non-binary get mad when they are accidentally misgendered?

For example I am an intersex woman and I look female and sound female . So why would I get upset when someone assumes I am female? I know you aren’t supposed to assume someone’s gender identity but most people do assume one’s gender based on sexual characteristics such as voice, bodies, hormone levels, etc. why do some individuals get pissed off who live outside the binary of man or woman when someone makes a mistaken assumption. I don’t call anyone miss, ma’am, or sir just because I don’t want to make a mistake..intentional misgendering is rude but a mistake happens and sorry to say it 8 out of 10 times someone is correctly sexed. People are shocked to find out I’m a hermaphrodite because they just think I’m female. But I can’t get mad and pitch a fit because someone assumes I’m completely female. People have eyes and ears to use their senses. Even little kids call me a she. I have been chewed out for making a mistake before.

How would you feel if everyone started to address you as a man all day, every day???

You consistently correct them, but they double down... you look and sound like a man, so you're a man.

I mean, I've literally been told by my family members that they would continue to use the same name that I was given at birth if I went ahead and changed my name to something that triggers fewer traumatic memories for me. Why would it be so hard to make the effort to remember and use a new name??? No one bothers to double down when a woman marries and takes her husband's name.

@HootyTheNightOwl I’m not talking about intentional misgendering but getting pissed off over accidents because they do happen. Your family sounds mean if they wouldn’t use your new name.

@midnightmagic A lot of the time, it does tend to be intentional misgendering, though. They say it once, you correct them and a few minutes later, they're using it again.

The usual reason for it is "You were born as a X - therefore, you ARE an X".

What is on your birth certificate?
My friends' birth certificate has the wrong first and last name and the wrong gender.

@GuyWithOpinions probably. But it couldn't be fixed. Too expensive.

@userfawkes1105 Pretty big in a lot of Europe. Look at JK Rowling and the hate she receives from other British folk
@Turtlepower I think those people whom choose the alphabet life style should know what they are getting into don’t see why they are surprised there’s push back it’s always been that way.
