What are your thoughts about the LGBT community being represented in the media?

I just think that there is a lot of pandering going on.

I think there is some pandering, but I do think representation matters and as long as they don't tokenize LGBT and actually make well thought out characters I don't see the issue.

@basilfawlty89 Like when they cast a Black girl as Ariel in the Little Mermaid, but kept the rest of the actors the same races as they were in the original Disney film.

Oddly, the same people who defended that decision and claimed it only upset the racist people who didn't want Black people in movies are the exact same people who constantly bitch about "whitewashing" and the casting of White actors in roles of characters that were not White in the source material. Perfect example, the film adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Most of the characters in the cartoon show were Asiatic or Native of some kind, Inuit, Eskimo, Koryak, and so on. And yet almost the entire cast of the movie was White.

@BlueMetalChick yeah. Done properly, representation should be encouraged. Black Panther was well made and had a majority black cast. It wasn't forced or tokenized and actually had well written and well thought out characters.
