How do you deal with homophobia?

The reason I ask is from a personal experience I had recently on line. Some guy sent me a message saying he would like to kill me because he thought I was gay and praised to Orlando criminal. This is positively shocking and I was quite intimated by it, even though I know there is no way he could find me as what he contacted me on is a strictly private and anonymous site, I used a fake name.

Jesus Christ I'm so sorry. That's horrifying.

You're right that he's not actually coming for you, but it is a pretty deep reminder that there are people out there who will do violence upon you simply for existing.
