Is being trans a mental illness?

Is being a transsexual and or transgender a mental illness? Discuss.

(Disclosure): I mean mental illness in the same sense as any mental illness such as ADD, ADHD, OCD, all the way to schizophrenia. I’m not using the term mental illness as in a brainless nut job.

I think the goal with mental illness is finding a cure and after finding what works, living as normal of a life as possible. I dont see a transgender person as someone who needs a cure. They are not ill, they are just human beings like the rest of us.

@Anonymouslyyours86 lifestyle falls more in crossdresser no operation for me ,The rest of them are trully trans and not doing it for drag queen or crossdressing o r ect they are not happy i n there body =trans
