Is being trans a mental illness?

Is being a transsexual and or transgender a mental illness? Discuss.

(Disclosure): I mean mental illness in the same sense as any mental illness such as ADD, ADHD, OCD, all the way to schizophrenia. I’m not using the term mental illness as in a brainless nut job.

No, not at all. The only thing is that being trans gives you more of a risk of getting/having mental illnesses. Thanks for posting this question so I can continue blocking transphobes.

What's more, over 41 percent of trans men and women are estimated to have attempted suicide — a rate that's nearly nine times as high as the rate of cisgender Americans." (That's from Psychology Today.)
I have depression and anxiety and tried to commit suicide back when my parents were transphobic and homophobic towards me.
