Is being trans a mental illness?

Is being a transsexual and or transgender a mental illness? Discuss.

(Disclosure): I mean mental illness in the same sense as any mental illness such as ADD, ADHD, OCD, all the way to schizophrenia. I’m not using the term mental illness as in a brainless nut job.

Please keep this civil.

No, sexuality has less to do with brain function and more to do with inner soul and feelings

@calicuz It's better to be described as transgender and usually has nothing to do with your sexuality but the sense of who you are

Hence the lack of brain function and more to do with the inner workings of the soul.... yes?

@calicuz brain, soul, yes. However all mental illnesses are the cause of faulty brain functions, so your description applies yet not quite in the way you think it does?

@MartinTheFirst

I separate the brain and the soul, they work independently but together like the heart and the liver.

@calicuz Interesting. Where do you think the soul lives?
SunSurf · 46-50, F
@MartinTheFirst the soul is the very core of the persons being, it lives in thy true self , your very essance of being..

@MartinTheFirst

Deep in the body on a spiritual level
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@SunSurf @calicuz So it's not physical?
calicuz · 51-55, M
@MartinTheFirst

No, I don't believe it is
SunSurf · 46-50, F
@MartinTheFirst you lost me... are you asking if the soul is on the outside?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@SunSurf .-.
SunSurf · 46-50, F
@MartinTheFirst I am only stating what I as a person believe, but I think if your true to yourself, then it reflects on your soul inner and outwards...
