It's Jaws; the book I'm reading...

I was born in 1979, so when i was little the jaws film would've been on television. Then there were the sequals so it was obviously popular. So of course when I realised it was a book I added it to my TBR in a moment of whimsy. I'm currently trying to tidy up said TBR so I'm reading this monstrosity.

Below is the post i made about it yesterday.

But I miss the women i was yesterday with all my heart. Because, today...

She's getting ready to go meet her ex-boyfriends much younger brother for "lunch", having lied to her husband about where she'd be that day. She's standing in front of a mirror, accessing herself. I shit you not, this is word for word:

The only problem as she accessed her body critically was her hips. By no stretch of anyone's imagination were they girlish, they signalled motherhood. They were as Brody (her husband!) once said; breeders hips. The recollection brought a quick flash of remorse, but excitement quickly nudged it aside. Her legs were long & below the pad of fat on her rear slender, her ankles were delicate, & her feet, with the toenails neatly pruned where perfect enough to suit any pedophile.

I beg your pardon? ...what?

Ew

Did you hear the da-dunt da-dunt da-dunt music in your mind, when ready the gory bits?
@SevenTierCrazyCake keep us posted.. 🍿
Quint FTW
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout you'll be the first to know 😆
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout that was horrific, & not in a good way. Steven Spielberg really pulled a great white out of a hat.

The movie really sanitizes the story to make it more family friendly; if you can make a killer shark okay for the kiddies...

I wish the movie was more faithful to the book, but no way was Spielberg going to do that

@SevenTierCrazyCake, I like the grittier version of the book. Don't know if the story would be any better if the juicy parts were left out
@JohnnyNoir we'll have to agree to disagree

@SevenTierCrazyCake no problem.
SW-User
I read the book when the film first came out.i didn't remember the pedophile bit 😳
@SW-User it's just revolting. Later she's sitting eating lunch with this person she doesnt know discussing rape fantasies.

It's meant to be a book about a big pissed off fish! The writer is an absolute pervert.
SW-User
@SevenTierCrazyCake I remember it being a bit different to the film.
@SW-User out of no where too

Wtf is that shit?
Captainjackass · 31-35, M
@SevenTierCrazyCake you should be more cautious of what you read for now on.
@Captainjackass i know what happened. I learned somehow that the film was bassed on a book & full of whimsy i added it to my TBR

@SevenTierCrazyCake I’m very selective when it comes to what I read. Always do a lot of research before reading so you’re not disappointed.
