I Hate Scammers

The latest tactic I've been hit with by robocall scammers is that, if I don't contact them within 24 hours, the local cops are going to come and haul me away because I have "four charges pressed against [my] name."

I think this goes over the line from being merely annoying into being felony harassment. Shame there's nothing to be done about it.

Last one I got was the IRS had a warrant against me for back taxes. I’m on the do not call list but still get them. When they are generated from outside the US there is not much that can be done.

@SageWanderer I've noticed that a lot of the numbers are get are cellphone numbers assigned to low population, rural areas that will probably never use them. I imagine they're spoofing those to try to get you to answer a call from a community you might even recognize.

I get calls for student loan forgiveness from local numbers, in fact it shows on the landline as people I know.

@DunningKruger yeah, all the ones I get come from numbers with the same prefix as mine (i.e. Arkansas, which is where I was living when I got the phone).
Friends/Family names ? @SageWanderer

@softspokenman It’s a small town so yes I recognize most of the names. Last one came up as my doctors office number.
Since it's a small town, do the real people know that their names/numbers are being used ? Are they and others receiving calls also ? @SageWanderer
