It's premeditated murder, that's a capital crime in Utah.
And yes, the investigation is ongoing but the accused is entitled to due process. The one I'm waiting for is Luigi Mangione's trial. I'm very interested in what his motive was. It's also interesting to see the difference in reaction between that murder and Charlie Kirk's. Of course Kirk was far better known than the CEO of United Healthcare, but for some reason conservatives didn't get nearly as upset over that one as they did over Kirk's. Ultimately, the CEO's murder was a strike at the heart of capitalism, while let's be honest, Kirk was just an entertainer.
So it's really just about emotion. A super hot dude shoots a health care CEO and nobody gets upset, while a creepy weirdo shoots a beloved media figure and everyone goes apeshit. Nobody is saying Mossad killed the CEO or he faked his own death.
Oh, and in case anyone sees this, the guy in the baseball cap that the tinfoil hat crowd is saying killed Kirk is Frank Turek, a pastor and author of the book I Don't Have Enough Faith To Be an Atheist. The book is a lengthy apologetic that first seeks to prove that God exists, then pivots to the attempt to prove that Christianity is the one true religion. If you think he killed Kirk, you need to use your head for more than a dandruff holder.

@LeopoldBloom I mean all of it is receiving excessive media coverage so the illegal and frightening facism oriented things Trump IS doing don’t get as much exposure or air time.
Plus it calls all kinds of festering issues to front and center too. Compared to the things the president is dismantling idk if it should be being so focused on
God save America!
I think disband the union;! every state for itself? Maybe we reunite after the trump years. Maybe not!

@LeopoldBloom the reason there is no death penalty in New York?on the state level! Is because there were many instances when a person was put to death then after a statute of limitation was reached (sometimes 30 years) and a key piece of evidence was allowed to go public it was determined the person put to death was actually framed or not guilty.
Therefore this instance with Kirk smells too fishy for my liking.

A death penalty still usually takes some time between conviction and execution. Not sure what more needs to be investigated if they believe they have a case.
Motive might be important for the political discussion of the murder, but not really the criminal conviction. And the courts don't need to hash out the political aspect.

How do you make a criminal conviction stick when there is no evidence that Tyler Robinson had fired the gun that shot Charlie?
All they know for sure is that Tyler was seen running and jumping down from a rooftop that was 500 yards away from Charlie. That's all they've got on him.

I believe Charlie Kirk's murder (not Assassination), was an inside job and Tyler Robinson was purposely used as the distraction device which everyone focused all eyes on and all video cameras on as well. Tyler Robinson therefore, is the scapegoat and the real killer is still at large, though I believe known to those in Washington DC.
Tyler Robinson wasn't deeply enough entrenched in politics or the MAGA-right to actually orchestrate what took place in Utah because he thought he was going to save America from some evil lunatic on the right. The thing is, there is no video footage that actually shows Tyler pulling the trigger or even holding a gun! So when a Defense Attorney gets assigned to this case, expect Tyler to be set free when it's over!

@swirlie Given the zeal with which they are coming after the left, I’m inclined to think they needed this to force the so-called anti-censorship right into adopting a completely different stance. It always starts with censorship.
