Questions for our American friends

Why when there is a mass shooting does it seem like a lot of people's solution is more guns?
As outsiders looking in how exactly would that help?
And why is the suggestion of reducing guns such a sore topic?

Problems with tougher gun control is it would make it hard for good people to get guns but not the criminals.

Criminals will always find a way to have weapon regardless of the law.

Most of the citizens are afraid of the situation where good people not having a way to defend themselves.

@SW-User Then a nation needs to combat the root causes of crime, instead of turning itself into an armed camp.

@chrisCA Yes, by putting the dangerous criminals in prison and keeping them there, not casting them as victims and releasing them right back out onto the streets with no bail. Somehow, coddling them hasn't stopped the violence but increased it.
chrisCA · M
@graphite Yup. More prisons. That always works.
Prisons are grad schools for criminals.
SW-User
@chrisCA I agree, there needs to be more death penalties.
chrisCA · M
@SW-User The Taliban would love you.
graphite · 61-69, M
@chrisCA Then don't "graduate" them. Keep them in there. Why not take some dangerous criminals into your home and give them a big hug? Should be good to go. Show us how it's done.

@chrisCA😞 beleive it or not some people don't deserve life in prison.

I saw a murderer who smiled during trial and laughed at victims parents.

Such people don't deserve life in prison , the deserve what they did to the victims.
graphite · 61-69, M
@SW-User Hey, that smiling murderer is just a victim of the evil, oppressive capitalist system, not responsible for his own behavior. Get with the program.

So I guess we should just give up and legalize all guns. While we're at it, since drug dealers are always going to try to find a way to sell cocaine, let's legalize that. Hell, let's legalize heroin and crystal meth for the same reason.

@LordShadowfire

I merely explained a concern.

Instead of saying So I guess we should just give up and legalize all guns.

You could've said that the government will make sure criminals don't get the guns.

When people are afraid about something getting annoyed by them wouldn't solve anything.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SW-User I just get so sick of people using that as an excuse not to pass stricter laws, or at least laws that are consistent from one state to the next. Right now, if somebody in California doesn't care for the laws regarding what type of firearm, what type of magazine, etc., all that person has to do is drive to Arizona.

And here's a fun fact that you folks don't like to hear. Even a stolen gun with the serial number filed off has to have come from a legal source originally. It was manufactured, unless somebody 3D printed it in their home. If the manufacturer of certain guns, magazines, and so forth is restricted, it will eventually have the desired effect, as older guns break down and stop working.

@SW-User Funny how other countries don't seem to have this problem. USA is different though....
graphite · 61-69, M
@walabby Other countries weren't built around the concepts of personal liberty and limited government. We don't do the police state format.

chrisCA · M
@SW-User That is the exception.
How many people are serving long prison sentences for the failed "war on drugs"?
SW-User
@chrisCA lame whataboutism
chrisCA · M
@SW-User Doesn't follow your "hang'em high" mentality?
SW-User
@chrisCA Whatever you say Dudley Dooright
chrisCA · M
@SW-User We will let the statistics on violent crime speak for themselves.

@chrisCA
Great Idea:

chrisCA · M
@SW-User Has anybody ever sat down, and seriously given thought as what do about it?
SW-User
@chrisCA my radical idea is to stop incentivizing single parenthood through the gubmint
chrisCA · M
@SW-User Does your plan respect the reproductive rights of women?
SW-User
@chrisCA try to stay on topic Mr ADD
walabby · M
@graphite How's that working for you guys then? Australia's per capita Covid deaths are a fraction of the USA and there hasn't been a mass shooting since 1998, or thereabouts..
graphite · 61-69, M
@walabby How's Australia's police state working out for you guys? Tough break, guy. We in the USA don't bow before Beloved Government, which apparently is how things are done now in Australia.

Excerpt:
Police helicopters look for lockdown violators. Officers have fired rubber bullets and tear gas at anti-lockdown protesters, including children. Pregnant women arrested. Pastors thrown in jail. Australia has unleashed such control that many are calling it a police state.
