Having seen the trailer, it kinda seems like a creative The Purge type of thing. I'm not really sure where the whole Trumpie-hunting spin comes from, but it's certainly aggressive in its satire of America's conception of wealth and law. If they've decided it's not cool to show the ads around the time of a mass-shooting, I'm not sure this movie will EVER get released though.
Apparently.. whilst sitting around discussing the hunt. The elites refer to the targets as deplorable.. I didn’t see that part either.. 👌@BlueVeins

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout 'Deplorable' is just a word that means shitty or condemnable. That's only an inherently political term if you, as a viewer, either

a) have been stuck in the context of Hillary's dumbass offhand comments since 2016,

b) already have a wildly, rigidly negative opinion about Trumpies that extends far beyond basic sensibility, or

c) have some preconcieved notions about the makers of this trailer that would make you basically impossible to avoid offending anyway.

So make your choice I guess.
@BlueVeins According to several websites (news and entertainment, not politics websites) one of the ‘elite hunters’ remarks something like “Great day to shoot some deplorables.”

For me, that’s pretty specific. It doesn’t matter if the line was “shoot deplorables” or “shoot snowflakes.”
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Mamapolo2016 Specific because of one comment one politician made three years ago? It's kind of a reach.

One politician? Yeah, one politician whose political loss in 2016 has put the left into a permanent frenzy.
@BlueVeins No. Specific because the comment has been repeated ad nauseam for the ensuing three years. If you’ve been paying even the slightest attention, you know what MAGA means, you know what snowflake means and you know what deplorable means - politically.

The line is not ‘That’s deplorable,’ It’s ‘shoot some deplorables.’

To pretend that’s not what it means is disingenuous.

@BlueVeins ALL Trump supporters are in the basket of deplorables, according to Hillary. When an important politician with the support of half the country says something awful, it resonates and stays in the minds of the people who consider themselves insulted.

If that were not the case, then Trump haters would not STILL be calling him a racist because of the so called "Muslim ban".

IMO it's an emotional response. And I will tell you quite frankly, this movie is too close to reality in a time when anti-fa beats up conservatives and no Trump supporter in their right mind would advertise it, for fear of retaliation. The Covington kids discovered that.

@Mamapolo2016 It's been repeated pretty frequently by right-wingers. Hillary herself apologized pretty soon after making that comment, and basically nobody backed her up on it. Outside of right wingers who had -- somewhat rightly -- felt victimized by that comment, the phrase basically disappeared for the past several years. MAGA, on the other hand, isn't a word -- it's a phrase, and has been used continuously since Trump's campaign.

Also, the people being hunted are clearly the protagonists, so pick your poison I guess.

I guess that blows up your Labor Day entertainment plans, eh?
@BlueVeins I didn’t say MAGA was a word. I said we know what it means.

@BlueVeins You are correct. There are people who now claim that the deplorables in this movie are the "good guys".

@4meAndyou
ALL Trump supporters are in the basket of deplorables, according to Hillary.
It was half.
When an important politician with the support of half the country
She never had anywhere near that. She had the majority of the popular vote, but there were only two viables options in that election, the other of which was pretty questionable. She lost the Democratic primary popular vote by a very significant margin.
it resonates and stays in the minds of the people who consider themselves insulted.
If we applied the same logic to Trump, basically any six-letter-or-less insult would be off-limits by now. Anyway, what kind of weirdo considers him or her self to be insulated? Being politically insulated is a really bad thing.
If that were not the case, then Trump haters would not STILL be calling him a racist because of the so called "Muslim ban".
That's not even close to the only reason why he's considered racist by a large portion of the population. Trump has had a long history of making racially-charged remarks.
IMO it's an emotional response. And I will tell you quite frankly, this movie is too close to reality in a time when anti-fa beats up conservatives and no Trump supporter in their right mind would advertise it, for fear of retaliation. The Covington kids discovered that.
It's really about wealth and violence, though, not political extremism. Every side has political extremists that seek to scare and intimidate their opponents and blowing them out of proportion and completely recontextualizing them isn't really justifiable.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Mamapolo2016 I know you didn't say that and I don't want to accidentally create a situation of strawmanning you btw. I'm just saying that they're not comparable for that difference and others.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Budwick Oh, I'm sure I'll be busy studying by then. ActSci is hardcore. 😅
4meAndyou · F
@BlueVeins I believe you have some valid points. But I believe the greatest impact of this movie will be the visuals, MAGA types and deplorables being hunted and killed. Most people who watch movies where people are hunted and killed by other people are horror fans who aren't thinking very deeply. I doubt if more than 10 people who watch this movie will think deeply about it.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@BlueVeins ActSci ??? Well, you should be able to predict who is likely to die then! What a fun career choice.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Budwick Hey, thanks, but I haven't really decided if I want to go into casualty or property yet, or maybe even some kind of workplace optimization type of thing quite yet. I'll keep you posted! 🤗
Budwick · 70-79, M
@BlueVeins Oh boy. I can not wait to her more news on this.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Budwick ❤️ Thanks! It's very exciting and I'm glad you're interested, too.

@BlueVeins I am starting to understand how it is that you believe MSM.
