Well, it's not really something a government should be involved in doing or traditionally has done well. But certain crimes do seem to call for ending the life of the criminal. It's a genuine conundrum.

The Nuremberg International Military Tribunal defined "Crimes against humanity" as follows:
"...namely, murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation, and other inhumane acts committed against any civilian population, before or during the war, persecutions on political, racial or religious grounds in execution of or in connection with any crime within the jurisdiction of the Tribunal, whether or not in violation of the domestic law of the country where perpetrated."

I don't support the death penalty, no..
A bullet through the brain is basically what they do to cows and horses and other meat animals. Death would be instantaneous, but maybe its still pretty horrible.
Give the person lots of drugs beforehand so they don't even see it coming.
