Americans who support gun ownership.... Does that mean your against drug tests in the work place?

Because of the civil liberties issues?
Keeper · M
Last time I checked - we don't have "the right to do drugs"

Horrible comparison 🙄
Keeper · M
@Changeisgonnacome I think you need a med check
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@Keeper you seem drug obsessed. There were decades when we didn't have to be checked for drug use during non employment hours because of the fourth amendment. But the drug addled people don't remember.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Changeisgonnacome Hey genius, that only applies to the government doing it
TexChik · F
What does the second amendment to the constitution have to do with civil liberties?
TexChik · F
@Changeisgonnacome liberal bloviating bullshit doesn’t make sense to conservatives. Ignorance has a cure. Educate yourself . 🙄
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@TexChik so maybe as others have said, it wasn't such a good example. But are you personally glad that people who stack shelfs in Walmart can't get stoned in the evening and think about philosophy and expand their minds?
TexChik · F
@IndigoSavage weed is illegal in most states . And employers are free to place such restrictions as a condition of their employment. Just as the employee is free to work where such restrictions do not exist .
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I’d like to see Congress take random drug and alcohol tests like many public workers making far less money are expected to do.
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti two wrongs always make a right.
Make those rights a joke! Good job.
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
I'm not a fan of drug testing. That being said, civil liberties is about what the government can and can not restrict the individual. A private employer may set any employment terms it wishes. The employee can decide to work there with those rules or not. It's not a good comparison and an irrelevant example. Sorry.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
I am strongly against drug tests at work.
It's nobody's business at my place of employment what another employee does on his or her time off.
My place of employment is in no way shape or form affiliated with law enforcement and shouldn't think they should be allowed to or expected to do law enforcements job.
If someone at work is acting in a way that causes people to question their ability to do their job safely it shouldn't matter what that reason is. If they can't perform their job safely than they need to be removed from that job
TexChik · F
@Dainbramadge Unfortunately your behavior, actions, and appearance at work reflects on your employer and their liability. Usually, people who are using illicit drugs or consume too much alcohol are cognitively if not physically impaired to do their work the next day, and addictions lead to use while on the job. Why should an employer have to accept less than the best their employees can give? Or the increased liability that an impaired employee adds, especially if they injure others or damage property? The risks are too great for them to accept employees who are impaired. Its not just about you. Your actions have effects on everyone around you, especially your employer.

Let me guess u think guns kill people.... the truth is people kill people guns are just a tool.... is like saying i didn't fail my written exam my pencil did.... or i didn't burn dinner the stove did.... tools are what we do with them and I'm good with some gun control but still my right to own a gun same as all the world's leaders who use them to keep pace in every country in the world including keeping themselves and their families safe..
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@Ynot1more"is like saying i didn't fail my written exam my pencil did". I wish I'd thought of saying that when I failed everything.

What does drug testing in the workplace have to do with gun rights? 🤔
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
The other liberties aren't allowed to make sense! Haven't you tried talking in the last fifty years?
The vigilantes on the border don't like immigration rights. They shoot at immigration.
Northwest · M
and a woman's right to choose. Or freedom of choose your religion, without getting harassed or denied the same opportunities.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
the debate is always between governmental regulation and libertarianism.
I’m not sure consistency can be found among the gun rights supporters.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I’m not seeing the connection .

@Stereoguy It would make sense if the employee gets into an accident on the job site, or drives a vehicle or heavy equipment though.
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@cherokeepatti yes but come on, if you're stacking shelfs in Walmart, what's the big deal?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@IndigoSavage workman’s comp and on-the-job injuries, also getting other employees injured
